Will

Well, now that we've seen him in person you can definitely tell he is related to Shiloh, but he also definitely has his own look. Depending upon which picture I'm looking at I see a lot of Shiloh or I see a lot of his birth dad. The first picture resembles Shiloh a good bit, but as the pictures go on I see more and more of his birth dad. He's a cutie. I told Kim a lot of the faces he makes lead me to think he's going to grow up to be a thinker... kind of the serious, strong, silent type.

ETA: He was born on January 26, 2010 at 7:42 pm. He came in at 8 lbs 7 oz and 20 1/4 inches

Stupid H1N1

Well, we tried... We got halfway through the door to Kim's room when a nurse came running up behind us informing us that kids aren't allowed in the rooms. We were able to spend some time with Kim and the adoptive mom, Laura, and see pictures of Will (Shiloh's brother)... I can't even type that without crying right now!! This is going to be fun, right! ANYWAY!

Now that the swelling has gone down in his face, judging by the pictures, he is Shiloh with dark hair. Kim and Laura both agreed. Laura and Jeff (adoptive parents) seem super sweet. They said it's between us and Kim of course, but anytime Kim comes to visit we are more than welcome to come as well. That was a relieft to hear. I'm so happy that, whether it turns out this way or not, Shiloh and Will will at least have the opportunity to have a sister/brother relationship. I am so thankful for that. And I'm thankful that we will get to see this little guy grow up from a distance.

Richard and I will be dropping Shiloh off at a friend's house when he gets home from work then heading to the hospital for a visit. I'm sure I'll be posting pictures later this evening after we return.

I Think You Can Tell They're Related!

The first and last pictures are Shiloh. Looking at some other pictures of Shiloh when she was first born, I think they have a lot of the same features, but his are more pronounced. Same chubby cheeks (his are bigger), same (close enough anyway) nose (his is bigger), same lips, and it looks like he's going to have a very round head just like she did.

Shiloh and I are going to take a trip to the hospital a little later. We should learn his name, height, weight, etc. and, of course, we'll get more pictures! So check back later. The only thing I know is he was born sometime before 11:15 last night. He was three days past his due date, just like Shiloh!

Still Waiting...

For anyone who might be wondering, Shiloh's little brother (no, we are still not adopting him) is extremely comfy in Kim's belly. Her due date was January 23rd and she is beyond ready to have him, as any pregnant woman past her due date is. She had a doctor's appointment yesterday and they informed her that if he doesn't come on his own before Friday they will induce her then. I'm really hoping she doesn't have to be induced.

When we saw Kim over Christmas she assured us that we are welcome at the hospital once the baby is born, so I am very much so looking forward to meeting his adoptive family. After discussing what to do with some friends and family, I've decided that while at the hospital Richard and I are going to give his parents our names and email address. That way if they want him to have a relationship with Shiloh it's up to them. I feel like that's the best way to approach the subject without being pushy, or crossing any lines. I really hope they are open to something. Richard and I would be ecstatic for just one visit a year. We will see!

Anyway. Check back later this week for a birth announcement!

This Is Terrible

Shiloh woke up from her nap today wanting a snack, so I threw some graham crackers in a bowl and went back to cleaning the downstairs. The next thing I know, Buddy has an entire graham cracker in his mouth and I can tell by the expression on Shiloh's face (oh no, I just got caught) that she gave it to him (as opposed to him stealing it out of her hand). I retrieve the cracker from Buddy's mouth and ask Shiloh if she gave it to him. Her first response is no, so I ask again. She is truthful the second time so I take the crackers away and tell her no more. She then follows me into the kitchen and with the saddest voice ever says, "Oh no. This is terrible. This is terrible."
She then spent the next 10-15 seconds walking around the house saying that over and over again.
I don't know where she comes up with some of this stuff.
