Sweet Home Ala....Pennsylvania

Shiloh and I will be making her first trip up to PA in April....April 7-14th to be exact! I am so excited!! I can't wait for her to meet her cousin Brayden (and Uncle Jeff), take her to my old church, and just enjoy a whole bunch more firsts together! One afternoon during our visit we're going to get some prof photos taken of Shiloh and Brayden, which I know will be adorable! I am very much so looking forward to that! According to my sister, though, Brayden is going through a phase where he doesn't like to smile for pictures (terrible twos) but hopefully he'll be over that in a month. Other than the pictures I'm just looking forward to a nice relaxing visit and the family getting to spend time with Shiloh.

Growing Up

So, today is Shiloh's last day in month five. That's right. Tomorrow she wil be entering the sixth month of her life. That means in 1 month she will be half way to a year.

Everyone says when you have kids time just flies by. Well, for me, it didn't. I suppose that is because I have been home everyday with Shiloh and quite frankly the first couple months with her were kind of boring. However, now that she is almost half way to a year I must say looking back the last five months all seem like a big blur. I try to think back to that little baby we brought home from the hospital and I find I can't. I can say, though, that I am looking forward to the next 7 months. I can't wait to see her crawl, walk, hear her say her first word, ect! These first few months have been full of so many firsts (smile, laugh, smile at me, sitting up by herself) I can't wait for what is yet to come!
All of this thinking about the last few months made me pull out Shiloh's pictures from the hospital/first day home so I decided to do a then and now thing.

adoption comments

The first couple weeks after we brought Shiloh home it was hard to not tell most people she was adopted (not that it's a secret). We'd be out somewhere and people would constantly comment on how well I was getting around so soon after her birth and I didn't know what to say so I would just blurt out, "oh, we adopted". Every person we told seemed to think that was just great! We heard "oh, well that just makes her extra special" or comments like "well, isn't that just wonderful". However, the other day while at the doctor's I heard a somewhat original comment that kind of caught me off guard. As I said, I was at the doctor's and the nurse was in the room with me looking at Shiloh and asking various questions about her. I don't remember what it was that she said that made me feel compelled to tell her of Shiloh's adoption but when I did she said "Oh....well, that's not so bad". I just looked at her and smiled and thought, huh? I'm still not sure what she meant by it.

On a different note, I think Shiloh has definitely started the teething process! Yay....not really. We thought she was going to be an early teether because the girl has been drooling like something else since she was two months old. Now though, not only is she drooling (even worse now) but she has also become extremely fussy the last couple days and she just can't stop gnawing at her little hands. Last night she was up til a little after 1 am fussing and she woke up at 6:30 this morning kind of fussy. I hope she is teething because if she's not I don't know what to do!

I'm Back....

It's been a while but I'm going to try to keep this up! I have a new update on Shiloh!! She rolled over from her back to her belly for the first* time yesterday...4 1/2 months old...she's so strong!! So now she can roll both ways!
Our Alabama friends, Lee and Laura, are days away from becoming parents!! Laura has a c-section scheduled for the 27th...little Ella is refusing to turn her little bum around! Rich and I are so extremely happy for them and know they will be great parents! And I can't wait to have another mommy to talk to!
On the subject of babies, our Florida friends, Josh and Kara are pregnant with a baby due in August! So many new friends for Shiloh!!

*I believe she has rolled over before because the other day I went to check on her while napping in her crib and she was laying on her belly looking around.
